【Overview】
Anime archives are not just a preservation activity, but an "infrastructure" that supports education, human resource development, cultural transmission, and sustainable development of the industry.
However, the issues of "funding," "organization," "human resources," and "improvement of the environment for utilization" are always present in the field, and it is difficult to gain understanding as an organized business as it is an activity that does not generate profits. On the other hand, there is no doubt that archives are a social infrastructure directly related to education, human resource development, and cultural heritage.
This symposium will discuss archival standards, return models, rights handling, and educational applications, with each speaker sharing his or her experience, case studies, and challenges.
Based on the practical knowledge and awareness of issues by the speakers, this symposium will delve into the overall picture of the archive against the background of multifaceted themes such as archival preservation standards, return models, rights handling, and educational use, and will review the "past" of the animation archive and attempt to consider effective mechanisms for connecting it to a sustainable "future". We will look back on the "past" of the animation archive, and attempt to examine effective mechanisms to connect it to a sustainable future.
Main issues (tentative) subject to change.
-The whole picture of the Anime Archive
-Value" and "reduction" of animation archives: criteria and judgment of "what to keep".
